How it works

FDM, multicolor or resin?

The technology decides what your prints look like, how much cleanup they need and which supplies you'll need.

  • FDM

Melts plastic filament and builds the part layer by layer.

    Great for
Functional parts, prototypes, organizers and larger models. Filament is easy to handle and widely available.
    Keep in mind
Layer lines are visible up close, and fine detail is lower than with resin.
  • Multicolor FDM

An automatic filament system switches between spools during the print.

    Great for
Signs, cosplay props, toys and color-coded parts — without painting.
    Keep in mind
Each color change purges some filament, so multicolor prints take longer and use more material.
  • Resin (MSLA)

A UV screen cures liquid resin one thin layer at a time.

    Great for
Miniatures, figurines and highly detailed models.
    Keep in mind
Handle resin with nitrile gloves and eye protection in a ventilated room. Prints must be washed and UV-cured.
  • 3D pens

A hand-held tool that extrudes warm filament so you can draw in the air.

    Great for
Crafts, quick creative projects and learning how 3D shapes come together.
    Keep in mind
A craft tool, not a precision printer. The nozzle gets hot: children should use it with adult supervision.
